About Springfilm
Founded in 1999
Stichting Springfilm was founded in 1999 by Ellen van Slagmaat, Roy Dames and Jacco Groen, to produce films of social importance — films that expose abuses in the broadest sense of the word, at home and abroad.
Jacco Groen
Managing director
Jacco Groen is the managing director of Springfilm. He writes, directs and produces documentaries and drama productions.
At eighteen he shot his first short 35mm feature, Vadertje Tijd, which was broadcast by VARA. He studied at R.I.T.C.S. in Brussels and continued his film studies at the NFTVA in Amsterdam. He has won several awards as a screenwriter and has directed more than ten 35mm drama productions. With his documentaries he tries to open up people and stories that might otherwise stay in the dark. Jacco always goes deep, looking for what drives people. He builds a bond with them and often shoots over a long period. Call it his style, or his addiction…
Eunice de Asis
Deputy director
Eunice de Asis is deputy director. She joined Springfilm in 2010 as line producer of the feature film Lilet Never Happened, shot in the Philippines. She went on to line-produce several of Springfilm’s documentaries there and co-directed War on Minerals. As a social activist she became involved in many of the abuses in the Philippines that she brought into the open and raised politically.
Earlier, in the Philippines, she also worked for Terre des Hommes as a consultant on the Sweetie project.
Alongside her work at Springfilm she chairs Migrante Amsterdam and is International Coordinator of International Migrante Alliance Europe.
