Bacchus
In Bacchus filmmaker Roy Dames portrays three reluctant friends, each at a different stage of alcoholism. Harry would like to be the linchpin of the trio. He fusses over Ron to take vitamin pills every day so that his excessive drinking does less damage, while being considerably less strict with himself. After recovering from a stomach bleed, Joop too returns to the sofa at his friends’ place — but he now drinks nothing but malt beer. The film shows that there are many forms of alcohol use and abuse, and reflects on the causes of the three men’s alcoholism.
