Shut Up and Play
How do lads from the street deal with their own aggression, and with their powerlessness in the face of their own pitfalls? Can team sport mean anything here, or is it a drop in the ocean? The team is made up of Antillean, Dutch, Moroccan and Bosnian youngsters from Nijmegen with considerable baggage. Half come from the Malvert district, half from Lindenholt. The group consists of twenty lads playing in the regular league. Every other month each of them has a one-to-one review with the coaches, a youth worker and, where relevant, the De Grift addiction care centre. Schooling, work placements and trouble with the law are all on the table.
